Police have detained two foreigners in connection with the discovery of an unlicensed revolver and 12 rounds of ammunition.
A police statement said that about 16:30hrs yesterday, ranks, acting on information, stopped and searched a vehicle at Matthews Ridge, North West District, during which they found an unlicensed .38 revolver and 12 matching rounds.
Further enquiries led to a search at another area in Matthews Ridge where nine spent .38 shells were found that are believed to have been discharged from the firearm found.
It said that two foreign nationals who are employed with a mining company in the area have been arrested.
“They were originally placed in the lockups at Matthews Ridge Police Station where they behaved disorderly and also damaged the lockups. Consequently they were removed and are in custody at another police station.”
Enquiries are in progress.
