The President (ag) and Executive Members of the GFF met with the Staff and players of the Men’s Senior National Football Team – the Golden Jaguars – for an evening of Appreciation on Wednesday at the Raddison Suites Hotel, where the team has been encamped in preparation for the preliminary round competition of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, from today.
The Evening of Appreciation organized by the Federation was arranged to facilitate interaction and contact with and between members of the Executive Committee and the players, and it sought to provide a forum for sharing, encouragement and support as the team enters final preparation for the upcoming engagements in its World Cup qualification campaign.
Acting President of the GFF, Mr. Franklin Wilson, utilized the opportunity to address the gathering and to congratulate the players on their selection as members of the final squad for the World Cup.
He emphasized the need for togetherness and unity in their quest for football glory and assured the technical staff and players of the Federation’s full confidence and support for their efforts in the scheduled matches. Mr. Wilson also responded to questions from staff and players on plans going forward for the team and the Federation as a whole.
The Evening was well spent and came to a fitting finale when the Head Coach announced the names of the Captain, Mr. Chris Nurse, and Vice Captains, Chris Bourne and Jake Newton, for the initial matches against Barbados and Bermuda.
