After an initial postponement due to circumstances beyond the control of the Organisers, the Milo U-23 Football Competition will commence today, at the Tucville ground.
The competition features twelve clubs that will vie for the honour of being the top U-23 team in Georgetown.
Sponsored by Milo through their distributors Beepats’, the tournament is being coordinated by Fruta Conquerors Football Club.
A release from the club stated the importance of the continued development of the sport and the youths in particular in Georgetown hence the sponsors in recognition of this has once again answered the call and seized the opportunity to give back to its many customers.
Fruta Conquerors FC has proven over the years that the development of football is the focus of the club and is very happy to ensure that the competition is conducted.
Three games are scheduled to be played on the opening day featuring Guyana Police Force vs. Beacons at 17:00hrs and that will be followed by the clash between Guyana Defence Force vs. Flamingo at 19:00hrs and Fruta Conquerors vs. Santos at 21:00hrs. The competition will resume on Sunday, at the same venue with another triple header that brings together Black Pearl vs. Northern Rangers from 16:00 hrs; Police vs. Charlestown United at 18:00 hrs and the feature clash between Sunburst Camptown and GDF at 20:00 hrs.
Meanwhile, Fruta Conquerors take the opportunity to congratulate two of their original members, Vurlon Mills and Walter Moore for their outstanding contribution in the international friendly between Guyana’s Golden Jaguars and India where they netted a goal apiece in the 2-1 win over the visitors.
