High winds and heavy rains wreaked havoc on Wakenaam Island shortly after 06:00 hrs yesterday. The winds which came from a southerly direction uprooted trees and tore off zinc sheets from several houses.
Fallen trees downed several power lines and blocked the main road in other areas. The entire island was without power for several hours.
Several residents whose roofs were torn away suffered losses as water soaked appliances and everything in their homes.
The heavy rains caused flooding in some villages but the water receded shortly after.
Afterwards, residents who were affected were busy looking for carpenters to fix their roofs.
Was Jagdeo honest when he made those promises?
