Nicola Ramdyhan and Aretta Dey led the way for team Guyana in the First Citizens Investment Services 2011 International Junior Tennis Tournament on the first day of action as they both picked up two wins apiece in round robin action in the Girl’s 14 division. Top Boy’s players Daniel Lopes and Gavin Lewis also picked up wins as Guyana put in a spirited effort in the International Tennis Federation tournament in qualifying action.
The 15 year old Lewis is competing in the Boy’s 18 for the first time whilst top player Daniel Lopes is in his final year in the Boy’s 14 category where his improved play should allow him to mount a challenge.
The tournament attracts top players from around the world and includes players from the USA, Germany, Mexico, India and Italy as well as from the Caribbean and runs from Aug 12 – Aug 20.
Matches are best of three sets to 4 with a deciding tie-break at 4 all.

Boys 18 Gavin Lewis(GUY) def Dahl Calliste(Grenada) 6/4 6/3 in his first match and is scheduled to play Michael Feucht(Germany) next.
Girls 14s, Nichola Ramdyhan(GUY) def Loelle Hall(Barbados) 1/4 4/0 4/1 and Luka Lyttle(St. Vincent) 4/0 4/0.
Aretta Dey (GUY) def Llana Blackwood(Barbados) 4/1 1/4 4/0 and Noah Peters(Antigua) 5/4 (7/3) 4/1
Annesa Grandison ( GUY) lost to Denee Lyttle(St. Vincent) 4/5 (1/7) tie break, 1/4
Boys 14s Daniel Lopes ( GUY) def Aaron Soo Ping Chow (Trinidad) 2/4 ,4/2 ,4/0 and lost to Andrew Simmonds(Barbados) 2/4, 4/0, 1/4.
Judah Stephney (GUY) lost both matches against St. Vincent #1 Imani King 2/4, 1/4 and Shane Mustor(Barbados) 1/4, 2/4
