Close to $5M on offer
It will be nonstop action today when the Kennard Memorial Turf club stages their Grand Post Emancipation horserace meet today at their racetrack at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
Nine races are slated for the day’s programme and over 60 of the country’s top racehorses will be competing for close to $5M in prize monies, trophies and other winnings in the Carib Beer sponsored event.
The B class event is the main attraction on the day’s agenda and has a tantalizing $1,000,000 and trophy available for the winner and is sponsored by Carib beer.
The animals will compete over one mile. Those entered are Champtress, Zelik, Dubai Duchess, Got to Go, Tiger’s Prospect, Miss Karina, Mr. Gold Finger, Bio Fuel, Megan’s Choice, Sir Balagie, and Gullium,
The E and Lower 6 furlongs event has a first prize of $350,000 awaiting the winner and among those entered are Home Bush baby, Majestic, Peace and Love, Air Control, Bob Fortune and South Sea.
The 3yr event is for horses classified G and lower and sponsored by Nand Persaud and Company for a winning purse of $300,000 and Trophy. Over 5 furlongs, it will see the likes of Work Force, Face de Fire, and Peace and Love, Northern Dancer and Gold Plate in action.
The Open G class race will see the animals competing over a distance of 5 furlongs for a winner’s money of $240,000 and trophy.
The Gap, Lady of My Dreams, La Ruffian, Miracle Run, Megan’s Choice, Dream Girl, and Prado Gold are among the horses competing.
There are two events for two year old horses with the one for West Indies bred animals carrying a top prize of $250,000 over five Furlongs among the entries are Come dance with me, Settle In Seattle, Ceria choice and Rock Soma.
2-yrs old event for locally Bred horses over a similar 5 furlongs distance has the likes of Blessings, Rota Vator, Ruffian and Bad running for the $200,000 first prize and trophy.
The I class 6 furlongs event will see the winner receiving $175,000 and trophy with Sun Raiser, Apostle, The Lion, Funny Side, Extra heat, Princess Renuka, El Gato, The Gump and Zebra set to take the track.
The I3 5 furlongs event has the likes of Speed Vision, Royal salute, Mary Gold, JD Junior, Try Again, Northern Junior, Natural Black, Miracle Silver, Royal Time and Royal Intention all in the hunt for the winning prize. The top prize is worth $140,000.
The K&L six Furlong event will see the horse competing for a winning purse of $100,000 over six furlongs with Lil Axe, Prince Bayaya, Fight back, Great Prospect, Black Water, Simba, among those competing.
Top individual performers will be presented with accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organizers.
The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse racing Authority.
