The 3-week Football ‘Summer’ Camp organised by Coach Sampson Gilbert culminated yesterday at the Fruta Conquerors Football ground, Tucville with the presentation of certificates, medals and bag packs courtesy of Digicel.
The Camp which had an average participation of over 50 youths from the immediate environs, Campbellville, Kitty and as far as Berbice saw participants being taught the rudiments of the sport including the general technical development, discipline, self sacrifice and other related skills to enhance their all round ability.
The Camp which commenced on July 25 was the brainchild of Gilbert, a national junior coach, who told this newspaper that many of the participants were very eager to improve their skills, while some were attending such a programme for the first time and they too according to the coach displayed admirable discipline and understanding of the sport during the period.
Digicel’s Events and Sponsorship Manager Gavin Hope presented bag packs to all of the participants, while a number of them were also rewarded for their overall commitment to the stint.
Among those to be recognised were Tefor Daley-Best Overall Player; Steven Stanton- Most Improved Player; Keron Gomes- Most Disciplined Player; Jaleel Hamilton- Most Disciplined Player and Travis- Most Disciplined Player.
