Magistrate Hazel Octave Hamilton yesterday remanded to prison, a teenager accused of having in his possession an unlicensed gun and a quantity of ammunition, after he denied the charges when they were read to him in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The charge against 19-year-old Colwyn Mercurius, states that on August 4 at East La Penitence, Georgetown, he had in his possession an unlicenced .38 Beretta pistol and six rounds of unlicenced .38 ammunitions.
The accused, who was unrepresnted told the court ,“Dem hold me and two other man. Dem free one man and de other man ride away.”
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey then requested that the offender be remanded to prison since no special circumstances were presented to the court for the granting of bail.
No details of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.
Mercurius was ordered to appear in court on October 18.
