The owner of a Toyota Allion motorcar is grateful to the East Coast Demerara anti crime patrol and concerned residents of the village of Nabaclis for the recovery of his car before thieves could make off with its parts.
The car was stolen early Friday morning near the Alpha Hotel in Ogle and was recovered in an abandoned bond at Nabaclis hours later.
Much of the parts including the doors had already been stripped from the car but fortunately the police were alerted before the thieves could remove them from the location.
The driver of the car, who did not wish for his name to be published, related that he was summoned to make a pick up at the Lusignan Market Road on Friday night.
When he arrived there he met a man who along with another man requested to be taken to Ogle to pick up a female.
The driver said that he was not too skeptical since he was familiar with one of the men who he said was a known customer.
However when the car arrived at Ogle, the two passengers pulled out knives and ordered the driver out but not before robbing him of cash and a cellular phone.
The men then drove away with the car.
Later on Friday night the police received a tip off that persons were stripping a car in a bond at Nabaclis.
When the police arrived the perpetrators had vanished leaving the parts scattered all over the bond.
The stripped vehicle was removed and taken to the Cove and John Police Station as the police continue to investigate.
