Colette Hytmiah, who graduated with a distinction from her Communications Degree at the University of Guyana (UG), in 2007 yesterday received a US$1,300 cheque from the Past District 7030 Secretary of Rotary Georgetown, Ms. Beverley Harper to help her further her studies overseas.
Ms. Harper stated, “Myself and Dunstan Barrow, who is the Past District 7030 Governor, are proud to assist Colette Hytmiah, the recipient of a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship to obtain her Masters in Communications and Public Relations at the Norfolk State University in Virginia, USA.
“Hytmiah was extremely helpful when we hosted the Rotary District 7030 Annual Conference in 2006, she performed administrative duties and in recognition of that help we would like to assist her with some of her expenses.”
Ms. Hytmiah responded, “Being a part of the Rotary International family since 2003 has been a life changing experience and I would encourage any young person to be involved in an organization like that which allows one to give back to the community and at the same time being given the opportunity for personal development.
“I would like to express gratitude to Mr. Barrow, Ms. Harper and the Rotary Club of Georgetown Central for their generous contribution and support.”
