Guyana is among 24 institutions to be financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for technical assistance to small-scale cultural development projects.
One project being financed is Merundoi Incorporated which is a part of a Playwriting and Stage Production Workshops.
Under the Bank’s Cultural Development Programme, these projects will receive grants ranging from US$4,000 to US$6,000.
The Cultural Development Programme, managed by the IDB Cultural Center, aims to promote cultural development in Latin America and the Caribbean by financing projects and working hand-in-hand as project partners.
The grants were awarded to innovative micro-projects for technical training, art, music and theatre instruction for educators, artists and musicians.
Taking into consideration the diversity of these cultural disciplines, the projects were evaluated for their viability, educational scope, effective use of resources, ability to mobilize additional sources of financing, and long-term impact on the community.
