The unfortunate occurrence at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport where a Boeing 737-800 aircraft ran off the runway Saturday morning last has forced a cancellation of some flights that were scheduled to arrive in Guyana yesterday morning.
The incident had a domino effect on other activities as officials were forced to indefinitely postpone all flights arriving at that port.
The boxing fraternity was also affected since a planned seminar for local referees and judges initially scheduled for last Saturday morning also had to be pushed back because facilitator, WBC representative, Mr. Wilfred Boodhoo was left stranded in Trinidad and Tobago.
With a return to normalcy officials of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) has rescheduled the forum which now gets underway at the Civil Defence Commission. Thomas lands between 09:00-12:00hrs. Local referees/judges would have an opportunity to join their Caribbean counterparts and broaden their knowledge while sharpening their skills in their respective fields.
The purpose of the function is to tutor local and Caribbean officials and bring them in line with the officiating requirements of WBC/CABOFE. The Seminar is sponsored exclusively by the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation.
