Ten-year-old Shawn Archibald is now in a delusional state at the Pediatric Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)
This is as a result of the serious head injuries he sustained when the tragic Homestretch Avenue accident took place on July 17.
Two days ago, the young child was reportedly “off to a remarkable recovery”, after being taken off of life support in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) on Sunday, last, and warded in the Pediatric section.
The child’s relative told Kaieteur News yesterday that he “slips in and out of his delusional state”; sometimes recognising those around him and other times he would be confused as to who the persons were at his bedside.
Archibald still cries out for pain and is still on a “liquid diet” while his family continues to hope that his delusional state is temporary.
His baby sister, three-year-old Tatianna Smith was seen visiting the young lad at his bed late yesterday afternoon.
As for eight-year-old US-based Guyanese Renisha Benjamin-Moore, who is also a patient at the GPHC’s Pediatric Ward, she was expected to be discharged some time yesterday.
Kaieteur News understands that though her head is still bandaged, she is not feeling much pain, and she cannot wait to be reunited with her parents.
Meanwhile, Keisha Thornton, of the Cyril Potter College of Education, who lost almost all of her teeth in the unfortunate accident, is still hospitalised at the GPHC, nursing her wounds.
One week before the accident, Thornton had become engaged.
