The Secretary of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) yesterday issued a press release slamming an article carried in the Guyana Chronicle which claimed that the BCB was not in support of an injunction against the recently elected Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) by Angela Haniff in her capacity as a BCB Executive member. The release called the article mischievous and misleading.
The release read, “We, the Executive Members of the Berbice Cricket Board wish to publicly deny having any knowledge of the article stated in Guyana Chronicle newspaper on Sunday 24th July, 2011. The article suggested that some members of the Board were not in support of the Injunction filed against the Guyana Cricket Board with regards to election of office bearers held recently. That is totally untrue for it was a unanimous decision to challenge the election and was taken by members at a monthly meeting held recently.
We consider the article mischievous and misleading. The Berbice Cricket Board stands united and we will not comment further and would allow justice to take its course.
The Berbice Cricket Board will always recognise and participate in any Guyana Cricket Board election that is free, fair, transparent and democratic and would accept the result only if all the above is met. We at the Berbice Cricket Board are busy utilising our time and energy for the development of cricket in our County”.
