Contrary to the WICB Regional under-19 records, Guyana did not win the 1974 Regional under-19 three-day cricket in Guyana. That tournament was won by Trinidad and Tobago.
Sean Devers used the WICB information in a story in yesterday’s issue of the Kaieteur News and the writer wish to apologise for giving T&T’s title to Guyana who has won 11 under-19 titles and not 13 as indicated by the WICB.
The WICB information also incorrectly states that the Regional under-19 tournament began in 1968 when the regional under-19 tournament only began in 1970 with an under-21 and an under-20 tournament being played in 1968 and 1969 respectively.
