Regional champions Guyana successfully defended their overall crown and in the process added the Boys and Girls team titles as the curtains came down on this year’s Digicel Caribbean Area Squash Association Junior Championships last evening at the Georgetown Club.
The Guyanese have now won the overall title for the seventh time in succession to continue their Regional supremacy at the junior level.
Yesterday saw Guyana beat Trinidad and Tobago to grab the Boys title by a 4-1 margin through wins from Jason Ray Khalil, Ben Meckdeci, Alex Arjoon and Deje Dias.
The loss was suffered by the promising Nyron Joseph, who fell to nemesis Nku Patrick.
The Girls had earlier taken care of Jamaica by a similar scoreline with victories registered by Akeila Wiltshire, Ashley Khalil, Victoria Arjoon and Mary Fung-a Fat.
Lydia Alphonso lost to the reigning Caribbean champion Alyssa Mullings in the uNder-13 category.
The presentation of prizes was done by Digicel’s CEO Gregory Dean, Ansa Mc al’s Beverley Harper and Banks DIH’s Mortimer Stewart.
