John Waldron (3, 13 {blue ball}, 17) blasted a helmet-trick to lead Bent Street to a whopping 7-0 win over GFC Masters when play continued at the GFC Ground on Wednesday evening. Waldron was well supported by Ronson Williams (9, 18, 23) who fired in the other three goals. Unfortunately however, Bent Street was disqualified for playing an ineligible player.
Following the path of Bent Street was Chelsea which hammered Norton Street 4-0, Leroy Griffith (17, 29) and Aubrey Charles on the stroke of full time accounting for their goals. Norton Street and GFC Masters will move on in the competition.
In other matches at the GFC on Wednesday evening, Roxanne Warriors got past Pele Blue 4-1; Leon Cassius (15) and Chaka Jones (29) both scoring with the blue ball, Pele’s consolation goal came from Andre Kerr in the 27th minute.
Western Tigers roared to a 2-0 win over Upper Level Barber Shop, Shem Porter scoring with the blue ball in the 14th minute.
Matches set for GFC today from 18:00hrs, Broad Street face Northern Rangers, South Turkeyen oppose Reggae Boys, Fabulous 15 match skills with National Park Scrubs and Castello Skeemers play YWCA.
Games for tomorrow from the same time; West Front Road face Draggers, Pele Gold challenge Black Lightening, HD High Definition match skills with Western Tigers B and Prestige Barber Shop tangles with Laing Avenue.
EAST COAST
Golden Stars sent Victoria Kings walking the plank at the Plaisance Ground yesterday afternoon following their 4-0 triumph led by a brace each from Karambo Holder (1, 20) and a blue ball strike by Randy Stoby in the 29th minute. The other game at this venue saw Melanie winning at the expense of Panters from Plaisance 4-2. Scoring the winning goals were Kellon Lonke (10, 29) and Anil Hernandez in the 10th minute. Steven Houston (3) and Keon Ismond (20) responded for the losers.
Up at the BV Ground, Buxton All Stars A ensured Outsiders United remained out of the reckoning by virtue of a 1-0 win via sudden death penalty kicks following a 1-1 regulation time stalemate.
Overseas All Stars despite defeating Buxton All Stars B lost by virtue of fielding a number of ineligible players.
At the Plaisance Ground today from 16:00hrs, Mahaica Determinators oppose Daddy’s Enterprise/Liliendall FC to be followed by Golden Stars B/Victoria Kings against Plaisance Panters/Melanie.
At BV, BV Triumph United B/Ann’s Grove Linestar United play Buxton All Stars B/Outsiders United FC while BV Lions match skills with Buxton Tigers.
Matches are also fixed for the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground this evening; Bartica teams will be locked in battle tomorrow and Sunday as will teams in the Ancient County of Berbice.
