A team of police investigators has been dispatched to the gold mining area of 14-mile Issano to probe yet another murder in Guyana’s interior.
The team was dispatched yesterday following reports on Monday that a miner had been beaten to death.
Details of the murder are sketchy so far, but according to a source it may have stemmed from stolen gold.
Kaieteur News understands that the victim had stolen a mat from a mining operation. He was reportedly caught, beaten, tied up and left to die.
With the price of gold reaching record highs it is anticipated that there will be more violent incidents in the interior.
