The body of Lakeraj Mahadeo, aka “Kaveraj”, the missing fisherman, was discovered late Thursday afternoon at the Demerara Harbour Bridge by his eldest son, his brother-in-law and some neighbours.
The dead man’s wife, Indrawattie Roberts, told this newspaper that her husband’s body was located around 17:00hrs after relatives and friends continued their search which began on Tuesday afternoon.
“I went in town to buy some parts for the engine and when meh come back around 03:00pm time, me husband send me brother fuh collect the things meh buy fuh start repair it… Nah long after that wan lil boy come run and tell meh how meh husband boat over turn and dem can’t find he.”
She told Kaieteur News that his body was then taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour and his family is now preparing funeral arrangements.
Mahadeo disappeared shortly after 15:00hrs in the Demerara River a short distance from the Herstelling foreshore, after his boat overturned on Tuesday. He leaves to mourn his wife and five children.
