…displays evidence of severe beating
David Barclay, a 19-year old man, on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate Anne McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of attempting to commit a felony-to wit robbery under arms— at One Mile Wismar, Linden.
It was alleged that Barclay, of 57 D’Urban Street, Lodge, on June 27, attempted to rob Frank Daniels at his business premises at 274 One Mile, Wismar, Linden.
The defendant, who said that he is a first year student at GTI pleaded not guilty to the charge.
When asked by the magistrate what he was doing in Linden, Barclay said that he was there visiting friends.
Prosecutor Deneshwar Nauth objected to bail on the grounds that while Barclay was hospitalized three persons unlawfully tried to remove him from the Linden Hospital complex.
Barclay was further remanded and the case was put down for July 20.
Barclay was quickly whisked out of the courtroom by police officers who had to lift him, as both his feet were in cast. His left hand which was reportedly broken was also in cast.
Before the case was called, Barclay sat with his two feet outstretched on two chairs; obviously unable to walk. He was lifted into and out of the docks by police officers, to answer to the charge.
According to reports Barclay sustained his injuries during a merciless beating after he attempted to rob Frank Daniels at One Mile, Wismar.
He was later escorted by police to the linden hospital complex for medical attention. While there he was reportedly under police guard.
Is this oil a blessing or a curse?
