The Guyana Revenue Authority is making an effort to accommodate the taxpayers of Wakenaam who may need to renew their Motor Vehicle Licenses.
The Agency has issued a release stating that it will be setting up a temporary site on the ground floor of the Wakenaam Court House on Friday and Saturday of this week.
The site will be manned by Licence Revenue Officers, Tax specialists and other necessary personnel. Visitors to the site will be able to renew or purchase licences at their convenience and access tax advisory services.
The release noted, “residents of Wakenaam and its environs will be able to renew or purchase all classes of motor vehicle licenses, trade and miscellaneous licences such as for shops, hucksters, lumber yard and off-liquor licences on site.
“Additionally, residents will also have the opportunity to have one-on-one discussions with tax specialists who will also be on hand to address any tax related query they may have.”
Motor vehicle owners were reminded that the deadline for the renewal of motor vehicle licences is July 1, 2011.
In order to obtain the MVL on site motor vehicle owners are reminded that they must present the following documents to the License Officers on site: Taxpayer Identification Number; Certificate of Motor Vehicle Registration; 2010 Motor Vehicle License. It was also noted that the fee for the MVL remains the same as last year.
In order to obtain the requirements for specific Trade or Miscellaneous Licences Taxpayers in Wakenaam and the Essequibo area can contact Mr. Zakir Khan, Chairman, Neighbourhood Democratic Council- Wakenaam on telephone number 774-5060.
Prior to the visit, the GRA will also be sending staff to distribute flyers listing the requirements for the purchase of the various licences.
Businesses that are not in compliance were also urged to use the opportunity to gather information relevant to the regularisation of their establishments, thereby allowing them to be compliant with the country’s tax laws and regulations.
