The management of the Victory Valley Royals (VVR) Basketball Club is considering hosting the semi-finals, and finals, of the 2011 VVR Schools’ Championships at the Mackenzie High School (MHS) Basketball Court owed to the still incomplete Sports Club Court.
The annual schools’ basketball tournament had reached the semi-final stage before it was paused for refurbishing works at the McKenzie Sports Club Court to commence. Those works have been completed, but still the MSC Court is in an unplayable condition.
Because of that fact, the hierarchy of the Royals club is considering moving the remaining games to an alternative venue, with the MHS Court the most possible venue. However, according to one of the Royals Vice-Presidents, Semone Ault, dates are being worked out.
“There’s apparently a conflict with the dates that I have been granted permission for at MHS. So there will be a switch in the dates for the Semi-Finals and Finals,” Ault told Kaieteur Sport when contacted yesterday for an update on the status of the tournament.
She said that they are looking to host the tournament some time around month end and she hopes that they will be able to get the full gamut of support with the shift. According to Ault, the club is extremely keen on having the tournament successfully completed.
