All Guyanese sporting fans are being urged to descend at the National stadium to support the national rugby team when they come up against Barbados in the final game of the NACRA Southern Zone and the right to play Bermuda for the overall title in July.
Guyana, who defeated reigning, champions Trinidad and Tobago over one week ago will certainly start as favourites against the Bajans after their triumph over the team that is regarded as the best at 15’s rugby in the region.
The Guyanese will be fielding a strong line-up with the inclusion of overseas-based players in Richard Staglon, Ronald Mayers and Ryan Hinckson, while Kevin McKenzie arguably the best player in the squad is expected to lead the charge for victory against the Bajans.
In their last engagement in 2005, the visitors came from behind to defeat the locals, but according to Coach Theodore Henry, the standard of the game has improved immensely and he expects nothing less that a win come today.
The Bajans arrived yesterday and held a practice session at the National Park in the afternoon.
Admission to the venue is free for all persons and scrum time is 16:00 hrs.
Fans are being asked to wear green in support of the national team.
