Police have arrested a man who set fire to an ‘E’ Field, Sophia house with intent to burn it down following a heated quarrel with his reputed wife on Sunday night.
Fortunately, the house was saved from destruction and was only slightly scorched before neighbours put out the fire.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that the man and his reputed wife were arguing on Sunday night during which he allegedly assaulted her, causing her to flee the property.
Some time between Sunday night and early yesterday morning the man began to destroy a portion of the house including breaking windows.
Police believe that he subsequently set fire to the property and arrested him to assist them with their investigations.
