A Vreed-en-Hoop woman is appealing for the safe return of her two year old granddaughter who is missing along with a teenager who is said to be a far of relative.
The toddler disappeared after she was taken for a walk by the 16-year relative, Alisa Lake, last Wednesday.
Ruby Lake of 29 New Road Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara told Kaieteur News that since that day she has not seen her granddaughter Anna Peters and neither has she heard from the teenager who allegedly abducted her.
According to Lake the teenager who collected the child from her West Demerara home had indicated that she was taking the child to her place of work at the Campbellsville Health centre.
Panic set in when the teen did not bring the child back home and several calls and messages to her cell phones have gone unanswered.
Reports are that on Wednesday, last, about 09:00 hours, the teen collected the child from her grandmother carrying along a change of clothes, two pampers, and an underwear belonging to the child.
The child’s grandmother told Kaieteur News, “I waited up all night for them to come but she ain’t show. I keep ringing she phone and I got no answer.”
Lake recalled that during her investigations, a minibus conductor told her that he saw the teen boarding the bus with the child, which she claimed was hers.
She added that relatives had also contacted the health centre where the teenager claimed to be working but was informed that she stopped working there a long time ago and had not been seen or heard from for a long time..
The relatives of the toddler have since made a report to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station, and investigations are being carried out.
Anna Peters was last seen wearing a blue dress and the teen who allegedly abducted her was last seen wearing a blue jeans and a cream T-shirt.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the two is kindly asked to contact the nearest police station or contact the toddler’s grandmother on 2540543 or 6182444.
