Dear Editor,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Dr Doobay for the tremendous loss he has suffered. I hope that the ones casting aspersions – including the callous press – are suffering from indigestion/heartburn now that the murderers have confessed.
For one minute did any of these people who wrote/made comments – put themselves in the place of Dr Doobay and his family? If only people could put themselves in the “skin” of others and “take a walk around in it” as Atticus Finch told his daughter Scout in To Kill a Mocking Bird.
As if it is not bad enough that Mrs. Doobay died in such horrible circumstances. Think about how her husband must be feeling to know what his wife endured and then to top it all off – have people pointing fingers at him. Only those who have lost loved ones would know what it feels like.
We lost our youngest brother suddenly and as if that was not bad enough for us to reconcile in our minds and hearts, the rumours that people circulated about how/why/where etc. were beyond comprehension. My brother passed away in my hands in his puja room with the Murti of his Lord in his hands yet that was not enough for idle, sick minds.
They concluded not only how/why he passed away, even where he did and not one of them were anywhere in sight. This is the tragedy of sick, idle mentality and our society abounds with them. The strange thing is that these very same people should examine their own demented lives and see what they have and how they can take care of themselves. One can only pity such minds.
May Mrs. Doobay’s soul find peace and may her loved ones left behind find comfort in knowing that many of us share their grief and loss.

Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
