– says girlfriend innocent
Burglary accused Leroy Moore 22 of Rose Hall Town a known kleptomaniac pleaded guilty to the charge of Break and Enter and Larceny when he appeared at the Albion Magistrate Court on Friday before Magistrate Fabio Azore.
Moore was recently nabbed with stolen booty taken from the Highest Grade Boutique and Wash bay which was recently broken into. The man, who was initially not required to plea, told the court that he wanted to take a certain course of action. He told the court that if he could plead to the charge, he would enter a guilty plea. His wish was granted and a probation report was ordered by the Magistrate.
Moore will be sentenced on Tuesday 14th June.
His two accomplices who were charged with receiving stolen property have been placed on $80,000 and will return to court on June 27.
According to Prosecutor Inspector Satrohan Dayaram between Friday 27th and Saturday 28th May thieves had broken into the Highest Grade Boutique and Wash bay situated at Rose Hall Town and stole a quantity of brand name clothing, footwear, watches and other items valued over $1M.
Quick action by ranks attached to B Division of The Guyana Police Force lead to the capture of Moore, who was recently released from prison. When he was spotted he was wearing one of the stolen items.
He was arrested and taken into custody and subsequently revealed to investigators what transpired. He also told investigators that he had sold most of the booty to a deportee Lawrence Rodriguez and one Lincoln Matthews both of Rose Hall Town. They were both arrested with most of the items. About $700,000 worth in items were recovered.
Police carrying out further investigations moved in on Moore’s girlfriend, Melinda Bogle, 21, also of Rose Hall Town who was also spotted wearing some of the stolen items. When she was approached she made a run for it and disappeared. However police using their network tracked her down to the Upper Corentyne area, where she was arrested.
Moore had previously indicated to the court that Bogle was innocent of the crime she is accused of committing, to which the prosecution objected, thus a probation report on the woman was ordered. Moore’s Mother who was also arrested was subsequently released.
Prosecutor Dayaram had earlier objected to bail for Moore stating that the man was recently involved in a matter of similar nature in which they compensated the victim who decided to offer no further evidence against him.
