McGill Superstars defeated All Youth Redeemers by six wickets last Saturday at the Zeeburg Ground in the semi-final of the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) Country Side Agri Centre Twenty20 cricket competition.
All Youths Redeemers won the toss and chose to bat and were dismissed for 80 in 14.3 overs. Dial Singh (38) and Chris Rampat (15) were the only two batsmen to reach double figures.
Captain Sudesh Persaud grabbed 5-21 runs off 4 overs including a hat-trick while Abdul Razack supported with 2-18 from 3 overs.
In reply McGill, led by Captain Sudesh Persaud (35) and Abdul Razack (24*) reached their target in 14.3 overs, losing just 4 wickets. Bowling for All Youths Redeemers, Jadesh Persaud, Abid Haniff, Deoram Persaud and Ameer Imran each took a wicket.
McGill will now face Uitvlugt Superstars at the Wales Community Centre ground in the final after Uitvulgt got past Zeeburg in their semi-final clash.
Thirty-six teams from across West Demerara competed for $500,000 in prizes and trophies. Favorites Newline Cavaliers were disqualified for fielding two players in the quarter finals who did not participate in the preliminary rounds.
The final is being used as a fund raising event and should be played under flood lights.
