Justice Diana Insanally has ordered that a sale conducted by the Guyana Revenue Authority be cancelled. Seeking the order was businessman Reaz Khan.
The businessman had filed the motion against the Guyana Revenue Authority, Khurshid Sattaur, Commissioner General of the GRA, and Standford Solomon, over the sale of a BMW motor vehicle.
The judge, according to court documents, quashed the decision to offer to sell, transfer and or register one BMW convertible motor car, 1997 series — an item which was on the GRA’s list of vehicles for sale.
It was also on the bidders list of vehicles for King Solomon.
According to the court document the sale of the vehicle was seen as oppressive, discriminatory, arbitrary, unreasonable, unfair, illegal and procedurally improper.
The order which was granted by the judge barred the GRA and Solomon Enterprises or their servants from taking further action which includes contract, selling, transfer, registering and renting of the said vehicle.
