Former Guyanese U-19 opener Deonauth Baksh recently returned home after a successful sojourn in Trinidad and Tobago where he represented the Couva Sports Club in the National Division two Cricket championships in that country.
The local cricketer said that he had managed to clinch a contract with the Couva Sports Club to play first class cricket between January –May. During his stint in the Twin Island Republic Baksh engaged in 9 two days encounter and 6 one dayers. He said that he scored six half centuries and his highest score was 76 and ended with a healthy average of 46.69.
The young cricketer further intimated that he played 6 one dayers and lashed a highest score of 45. However, while the Couva Sports Club ended the two days tournament in the second place it only managed to reach the semi-finals in the one day competition. Baksh said that he is heartened by his performance which he says will serve him well in his future outings.
The young man had played cricket locally at the senior inter-county level and also in Canada, New York and Barbados where he played several first class matches. He is also a former member of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC).
