The man who was killed last Tuesday evening in an accident with a minibus on the Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice Public Road, has been identified as Seechan Hamid, 44, a fisherman of Murphy Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
According to reports Hamid was struck down around 19:15 hours by a minibus BHH1812 driven by Heamant Ramnarine, 46, of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice. The bus it is understood was going in an Easterly Direction heading towards Rosignol from Georgetown.
When in the vicinity of the Amin Gas station at Cotton Tree West Coast Berbice, the driver was about to negotiate a left turn when he came with the victim. It is understood that at the time Hamid was stooping on the road and was wearing a Short Pants and T- shirt. He was picked up and taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver is in custody while the bus is still impounded.
