The Revenue Agency will be facilitating the issuance of licences for Yellow Cabs registered in the ‘H’ Series between 09:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs beginning tomorrow.
According to the GRA, owners of these vehicles are asked to make their vehicles available for inspection at the LRO, Princess and Smyth Streets, Georgetown.
The revenue agency noted that this service will only be available on Saturdays. It was emphasised that vehicles presented for examination must be painted ‘Corporate Yellow’ and the following documents should be presented: Taxpayer Identification Number, Certificate of Motor Vehicle Registration, 2010 Motor Vehicle Licence and a valid Road Service Licence. No fees are applicable for licences in this category.
The sale of MVL commenced on March 1, 2011 and a three-month grace period was allowed for the sale of licences. An additional grace period of one month is being extended for the sale or renewal of such licences, since there would be no further extension of this final deadline of June 30, 2011. Hence, vehicle owners who fail to purchase their licences or renew same on or before June 30, 2011 will be required to pay a ten percent (10%) administrative penalty on the cost of their licence. In addition, persons without their motor vehicle licence after the grace period may be subject to a fine by the Guyana Police Force.
