Almost one week after popular Essequibo businessman Victor Warner was robbed and found murdered at his Lot 11 Richmond home, his remains were cremated after a moving service held yesterday at his residence.
Scores of relatives and friends attended, among them Commander George Vyphuis and AFC councillor, Francis Darchiville. Darchiville told the gathering that he knew the murdered businessman for almost 47 years. He noted that Warner came to live on the Essequibo Coast, at the age of 15 with his adopted parents and worked on their farm. He was also considered a professional photographer.
Darchiville described his friend as an extraordinary businessman, as well as a good adviser, father and grandfather, who touched the lives of many.
Brother Garfield Devillier, of the Anna Regina Anglican Church, told the audience that justice will prevail. He went on to remind those present that in the mist of life there is death, while urging them to always acknowledge God.
The eulogy was read by one of Warner’s grandsons.
Meanwhile, in a related development, police have released the three persons they detained last Saturday, on $100,000 bail each.
