– One injured
Up to press time yesterday a minibus driver was still being treated at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for injuries he sustained in an accident on the Diamond, East Bank Demerara Public Road. The injured man has since been identified as Arvindah Ramsahoi.
Reports are that some time around 14:40 hours yesterday, a route 42 minibus, BJJ 637 and a Leyland truck GJJ 4543 collided. This newspaper was told that the minibus somehow ended up in the path of the truck.
According to eyewitnesses, only the driver was in the minibus at the time of the accident.
“He (the minibus driver) de heading up de bank and just like da he just end up over in de truck lane…Me ain’t know if this man fall asleep or wha but it’s a good thing the truck was driving slow.”
The eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said that as soon as the two vehicles collided the truck stopped. The minibus, unlike the truck, was badly damaged. The entire front was smashed. The driver who appeared to be trapped was rescued by members of the public and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
