…Performed some duties from hospital bed
Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, was yesterday released from a private city hospital, but there is no word from official sources of the nature of his illness and neither is there any official word of when or if he would resume full duties.
Greene, 58, was admitted to hospital on May 6, last.
Yesterday, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon said that the government has not pronounced on the Top Cop’s condition because that would have been intruding on Greene’s privacy.
“If the commissioner, his wife and family ain’t pronouncing, I doubt you could reasonably expect administration to intrude on his privacy.
“If the commissioner offered that kind of information (or) didn’t offer that information, that’s it,” Dr Luncheon stated.
He said that even while hospitalised, the Police Commissioner was still “able to conduct some of his responsibilities.”
Dr Luncheon said that the Central Intelligence Committee did not suffer lack of information regarding the security sector with Greene’s hospitalisation.
He confirmed that Assistant Commissioner Leroy Brummel has been in charge of the Force in Greene’s absence and has been engaging the central Intelligence Committee.
Luncheon said he could not pronounce on when the Commissioner would be able to resume full duties.
Greene has faced several health complications of recent. This time around, he underwent surgery for a problem with his digestive system and has to also undergo a procedure to repair a ruptured vein to one of his legs.
Late last year Greene was rushed to St Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was later referred to the Caribbean Heart Institute after he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
