Local Super bike champion Stephen ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira is promising a stellar year which could start as soon as next Monday during the opening leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship, at Dover Raceway in Jamaica.
Vieira, who has been the most outstanding rider in Guyana for the past three years opens his quest for top honours against the cream of the Jamaican riders and he will be supported by Maurice Menezes and Canada-based Rajendra Ramrattan and the three will be looking to give Team Guyana valuable points as they attempt to retain the Caribbean title won last year.
The local champion speaking with Kaieteur Sport last evening said that even though the early shipping of his Suzuki GSX 600cc motor bike hampered its preparations a bit, he is confident of doing well and is hoping to make his major sponsor Sunburst Orange Juice proud.
“I am very thankful that the Company has seen it fit to once again partner with me and I’m confident that this year my fans could expect big things from me,” Vieira confidently expressed.
He added that despite the bike’s early departure he feels that it is in reasonably good shape, while his own confidence is high and he is anticipating a good showing at the season opener.
Vieira will be joined by last year’s CMRC runner-up Kevin Jeffrey, Gavin and Ryon Gayadin, Canada-based Paul Vieira, Afraz Allie, Rajendra Ramrattan, Maurice Menezes, Raj and Chet Singh and John Joseph as the full composition of the Guyana contingent.
