Georgetown defeated Linden by 38 points on their introduction to the annual Linwest Games to win the title at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, yesterday.
On the heels of stellar performances from seasoned national athletes, Tiffany Carto and Stephan James Georgetown amassed 327 points to win over their archrivals.
Linden finished second with 289 points while East Coast was third with 265 points and the West Demerara unit fourth with 205 points. East Bank was fifth with 72 points.
James won the Under-20 Champion Boy title for his memorable performance in the 200m where he defeated national junior sprinter, Chavez Ageday, convincingly. James also won the 400m by a huge margin to underline his dominance at the meet.
Georgetown’s Letitia Myles won the U-20 Champion Girl title after winning the 100m and 200m races in the category. Her counterpart, Tiffany Carto won the 100m and 200m to win the Under-18 Champion Girl award.
Samuel Doris won the U-18 Boys Champion Athlete award with wins in the 200 and 400m races while Jermaine Gordon and Jevina Straker were the Open Champions.
Upper Demerara’s Nikita Adams clinched the Girls’ U-15 title while West Demerara’s, Oswyn Boyce won the male award for his performances.
Upper Demerara’s Onacia Roberts was the U-13 Girls Champion while West Demerara’s Alex Welcome was the Boys’ champ in the same category.
