– confirms basketball development
The United States-based, Haynes Basketball Foundation (HBF) yesterday donated different paraphernalia to three separate organisations to continue its goodwill service.
The Foundation contributed to the Robert Cadogan After-school Basketball Programme, the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) and Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) yesterday.
“It is imperative that we start teaching the game of basketball at a very early age and it instills fundamentals, discipline and team building. The Haynes Foundation fully supports the efforts of Robert Cadogan’s After School Programme,” HBF said.
The foundation believes that the afterschool programme is inline with their vision for producing well-rounded citizens for Guyana. “To many children this is not just basketball, but it’s an outlet designed to keep them off the streets,” HBF continued.
In their statement on YBG and IGG, the foundation said that it was committed to the development of basketball in Guyana.
“Haynes Foundation is committed to positive youth basketball programmes in Guyana and has reconfirmed this with timely donations towards the training of the junior male and female (IGG) national teams,” they said before the presentation.
They said that they are confident that Guyana will continue to produce quality performances at the IGG in their efforts of bring back the gold medal this year.
