The sudden death by accident of a 28-year-old woodsman, of Good-Hope Village, Essequibo Coast, has shocked his relatives, his wife and the community at large.
Dead is Colin Bumbury, a father of five.
Pastor Colin Bumbury, senior, the father of the dead man, related that his son, who is his second of three children, ventured into the Karnack back dam, Upper Supenaam River, to work as a woodsman, almost a month ago.
According to Pastor Bumbury, he learnt of his son’s tragic demise, Tuesday evening, around 17:00 hours, from the boy’s employer.
Bumbury said that he was told by his son’s employer that Colin was winching a log up a steep hill when the chain that was tied to a tree burst and the end snarled the man’s feet. It was further reported to the Pastor that the weight of the log eventually pulled Colin and slammed him into the tree stump.
The grief stricken Pastor added that he was told by his son’s employer that Colin died on his way out of the Karnack area, while he was been transported by his employer to seek urgent medical attention at the Suddie Public Hospital.
Colin was described by his father as a quiet and loving father. Community members were at Bumbury’s residence offering their sympathy at the family’s tragic loss.
