Newly accredited Ambassador of Sweden to Guyana, Claes Hammar, paid a courtesy call on the Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform and Leader of the Opposition, Robert H. O. Corbin, at his Congress Place Office on Tuesday.
PNCR Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms. Clarissa Riehl, were present at the meeting with the new Ambassador.
Ambassador Claes Hammar was recently accredited as Ambassador of Sweden to Guyana and the entire Caribbean Region, including Suriname. He presented his credentials to President Bharrat Jagdeo.
Ambassador Hammar previously served in Brazil, South Africa and the United States of America.
Both Mr. Corbin and Ms. Riehl used the opportunity to brief the Ambassador on the current situation in Guyana and wished him success on his new assignment, while the Ambassador updated them on the situation in Sweden.
Ambassador Hammar will be based in Stockholm.
