A Canadian national who is wanted for murder in his homeland, was yesterday deported in the company of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Senior Police officials yesterday stated that the suspect, Joshua Warner, 22, was arrested last week at Charity, Essequibo. It was explained that the police had observed Warner acting in a suspicious manner.
The police were able to retrieve an identification card which was on his person. Several checks with the International Police (Interpol) database revealed that Warner was wanted in connection with a murder.
This publication understands that the man admitted to entering Guyana illegally via Venezuela one year ago.
Warner was subsequently deported to his homeland yesterday to face charges aboard.
This newspaper understands that the Canadian authorities did not seek an extradition order from Guyana since Warner entered illegally.
One Canadian website states that Warner is wanted by the “The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)”. On March 13, 2010, Joshua Warner and his accomplice, Tyrone Chambers, attended a party in Hamilton, Ontario.
During the course of the evening both men got involved in a verbal altercation with another attendee at the party. Both suspects drew handguns and fired multiple rounds at one individual.
They struck three completely innocent partygoers, one of whom died as a result of a gunshot to his head.
Both Chambers and Warner fled the party with their guns. Both parties have a long history of violent firearm offences and were considered armed and dangerous.
Chambers was subsequently prosecuted.
