At the final county conference (the Berbice leg) to endorse Mr. Ramotar as the PPP’s presidential candidate, Mr. Jagdeo was in his usual tirade mood. There was an outpouring of venom against Glenn Lall and the Kaieteur News.
Berbicians were told that Mr.Adam Harris now edits the Kaieteur News and that Harris was once the editor of the New Nation.
This was an extremely silly point. And in dealing with this angle, and his rhetoric about Glenn Lall’s so-called visa revocation, Mr. Jagdeo opened up himself to enormous ridicule.
I will avoid any ridicule in the analysis to follow but stick to cold, brutal facts that Berbicians must know and with this knowledge they must confront the PPP for explanations.
Harris’s name was brought in to let Berbicians know that Harris was once associated with the PNC. So what? The PNC, especially under Hoyte, ran a more nationalist and less corrupt government than the PPP since 1999. The disgraceful editor is not Harris of the New Nation but the present one at the Chronicle.
In interviews with media houses I have said unambiguously that Kaieteur News has played a pivotal role in exposing bad governance and corruption. I stand by that evaluation.
The Kaieteur News has done what all independent newspapers have done since fascism took hold of Spain, Italy and Germany in the first twenty-five years of the 20th century – to expose dictatorship and protect an oppressed nation.
My honest assessment of the Jagdeo regime is that it is instinctively authoritarian with huge areas of fascist tendencies some of which have been implemented.
Berbicians need to know all the truths of the Jagdeo Government. The opposition parties, commentators like me and other nationalists must offer all the truths to Berbicians. And we must go there and talk to them.
Can President Jagdeo tell us why Clement Rohee’s visa was held up by the Justice Department of the US Government for six months? Is Mr. Rohee eligible for a multi-entry visa? I may be wrong but I was told that he is not.
To date Mr. Rohee has failed to level with the Guyanese people about his visa imbroglio. But he did spin us a comical tale, so ridiculous that this country should have demanded his resignation. He told a press briefing that the visa trouble may have had to do with when he burnt the American flag in the early seventies outside the US Embassy. The truth the Berbicians should be told is that he never did such a performance.
I will tell Berbicians why his visa ran into a brick wall in 2004.
Then Commissioner of Police Floyd Mc Donald was rejected for American and Canadian visas. At the time of writing I don’t think he can get entry permits for those two countries. Mr. Mc Donald is a security advisor to President Jagdeo.
In which country, does the nation accept a citizen who advises the Head of State on security matters but is blacklisted by the US Government to travel there? If you think Mc Donald is a shocking case, there is more to come. As Home Affairs Minister, Mr. Ronald Gajraj had his Canadian and American stamps recalled. He is another blacklist victim (no doubt a justified one in terms of what the North Americans know about him) serving Mr. Jagdeo.
Mr. Gajraj is Guyana’s High Commissioner to India and may not ever be allowed to visit one of the great territories on the map. Next is the Police Commissioner. Both his diplomatic visa and visitor’s visa were revoked. At the time of writing I do know which of the two has been restored.
Then there is Kwame Mc Coy – the little fellow with big power in the Office of the President. Berbicians cannot be that stupid to know Mr. Mc Coy is a figure of resentment throughout Guyana.
I heard a taped conversation between Mark Benschop and Donald Ramotar in which the latter is heard saying, “I don’t read Kwame Kc Coy’s blog. All Guyanese know that Mr. Mc Coy’s power is derived from Mr. Jagdeo. This is a personality that no other president would ever have tolerated.
Mr. Mc Coy has had his Canadian and American permits cancelled. So we can count so far four of them and they are employed at a very high level in Mr. Jagdeo’s Government.
Then there are a few businessmen, close to His Excellency who had their American papers pulled. More on this and more on the truths that the President didn’t tell Berbicians in forthcoming columns. Open your eyes, Berbicians!
LISTEN HOW JAGDEO WILL MAKE ALL GUYANESE RICH!!!
