… Guyana Stockfeed robbery
Up to press time yesterday the nine persons detained for the Guyana Stockfeed robbery were still in police custody assisting with investigations.
This newspaper was told that the police are currently trying to locate the mastermind behind the entire attack.
Meanwhile, the relatives of one of the men being held in connection with the robbery are claiming that the police have been continuously beating the man since his detention. And yesterday police were still searching the Diamond and Grove areas for more persons whom they believe were part of the gang that robbed the company.
On Thursday last about six armed gunmen stormed the Guyana Stockfeed accounts office after relieving a female security guard of her handgun and handcuffing another guard to a gate.
The men then escaped with some $15M in two waiting vehicles.
Immediately after the robbery an all-station message was sent out and roadblocks set up. Four of the men were captured at Diamond sea dam. One man was reportedly caught with $1.5M and another with $300,000 in a bag.
Two vehicles believed to have been used as the getaway vehicles, a Toyota Allion and a Toyota Raum were seized by the police. A shotgun was also recovered in one of the vehicle.
