Fourteen-year-old, Shavana Peters, of 155 North Haslington, East Coast Demerara is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital after she was reportedly stabbed by another teen on Wednesday.
Reports are that the incident allegedly occurred around 15:00 hours while the victim was going home from her friend’s house. She was slashed on her left shoulder and sustained multiple stabs to her abdomen.
The wounded girl lamented, “She jus come to me and tell me she hear I want beat she and then broke a bottle and start stabbing me.”
According to her, she was at one of her friend’s house and since it was getting late she decided to go home because she didn’t want her mother to be worried.
She explained that on her way home Williams approached her and talked for a short while and subsequently stabbed her multiple times.
Peters disclosed that throughout the incidence Williams had her friends at her side encouraging her to further damage her.
With tears in Peter’s eyes as she sat in a wheelchair at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, she said she wasn’t looking for any trouble.
But Felecia Parris told this News paper that the stabbed individual went in search of Williams to beat her around lunch time but failed to reach her and reschedule to meet her in the afternoon when school would have dismissed.
The eyewitness said that “all two of them is my friends, but lunch time Shavana came at the school and was looking for (suspect named) and was telling the students that she want to beat her up but she didn’t find her cause the girl hide.”
According to Parris, she and the suspect were heading home on foot after school when Peters jumped out of a bus and started beating the accused and in retaliation the suspect picked up a bottle that was on the road, broke it and stabbed Peters.
It was reported that persons along the roadside who were witnessing the commotion, called the police to the scene.
When ranks arrived, both of the teenage girls where placed in the police vehicle. The suspect was dropped off at Cove and John Divisional Head Quarters and Peters was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was admitted to the Female Surgical Ward.
While the mother of the stabbed teen was confused when she learnt about the incident and was unable to speak, a relative, Ona Sam, told this publication that she hope that the family receives justice for their wounded daughter.
She also expressed the hope that the police investigate the matter thoroughly before they make decisions.
