The backed up and over flowing sewage at the rear of Pressy Enterprise Ltd. at 94 Regent Street, Lacytown, is causing major discomfort at the location. The staff members feel that the conditions pose a serious health hazard. The location is home to a photo studio.
The staff said that Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) was contacted on umpteen occasions and representatives visited the establishment and extracted the contents from the sewage. However, the situation of the overflow still persists daily.
According to the management of the entity, money had to be spent to raise the flooring and seal parts of the building from the sewage which leaked into the building and affected all the staff at the studio.
GWI said that persons dumping garbage in the sewer and restaurants in the area operating without grease traps, are responsible for the clogging of the system hence the system malfunction.
