The International Pharmaceutical Agency (Guyana) Limited (IPA) yesterday acknowledged the gold medal performance of Karel Mars in a 105 kg category during the just concluded IPF/NAPF Caribbean Power-lifting Championships in the Cayman Islands.
The IPA, who sponsored the athlete, was unable to make a formal presentation before he left for the event so they took the opportunity yesterday to acknowledge the outstanding performance at Regional competition.
“He had approached us through the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) and we supported him,” IPA Finance Director, Reginald Persaud said, adding that the company had supported bodybuilding and powerlifting in the past under their renowned Universal products brand.
Mars was elated with the corporate support and added that he was able to turn the tables on his regional arch-rival, Adrian Brown from Trinidad and Tobago, who defeated him last year. He is of the view that the entire team deserves much credit.
