After successful clinics and promulgations of the sport in New Amsterdam and Linden, Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) shifted focus to Bartica last week for its first of two coaching sessions before returning to the community this weekend.
Residents and schools are the beneficiaries of training that International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Level II Coach, Raynor ‘Copter’ Anderson is conducting at the Modern Hotel. Schools in the community were formally invited to participate in the sessions.
Students totaling 83 from schools including St. John the Baptist Primary, St. Anthony’s Primary, Three Miles Secondary and Seventh Avenue Secondary were involved in last week’s programme in Bartica, which is expected to continue over this weekend.
Simona Broomes, who is responsible for the GTTA arrangements in Bartica is also conducting a training session for students. Gordon Bradford is behind the facilitation of that clinic that will be held between tomorrow and Saturday, ahead of the other sessions.
The activation of the sport in the community precedes a table tennis tournament and bingo which are expected prior to the Bartica Regatta, April 20-21. The Bartica propagation of the sport forms part of the GTTA National Decentralisation Programme.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
