The Guyana National Rifle Association handgun section will run off its first practical pistol shoot for this year on Sunday at the Timehri rifle ranges.
The IPSC Handgun competition rules will apply in what is anticipated to be a day of keen rivalry.
The senior shooters will contest three stages while there will be two stages for the Novice competitors.
The Novices event will be subject to pre-qualification at the TSU ranges prior to Sunday’s competition, with the captain and vice captain expected to make the selection of the top performers.
The shooters expected to be in action on Sunday will include Dale Hing, Ryan McKinnon, David Dharry, Murtland Smith, Gordon Richards, Dr. Johann DaSilva, Ray Beharry, James Singh, Miguel Gurracharan and female shooters, Vidushi Persaud and Sarah Piggott.
Smallbore vice captain Ryan McKinnon said the competitors should check IPSC website, www.ipsc.org for the rules of the competition.
The competition will start at 10:00 hours with registration starting at 09:00 hours.Only members whose finances are in order will be eligible to take part. Registration fee is $1,000 per shooter.
