A Guyanese, Lante Johnson, threw gasoline and set his lover and her child alight in Suriname Tuesday. The child, Wiresh Dihal succumbed to the severe burns at the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital the same night, according to Star Nieuws in Suriname.
The newspaper reported that the child was in the arm of his mother when his stepfather threw gasoline on him and his mother, then set them afire. The child sustained severe burns on his face, abdomen and back.
Every effort was made in the hospital to save his life, but to no avail.
Lante Johnson, aka “Brandy”, is now a fugitive. The newspaper said that the man suspected his lover of infidelity and decided he wanted to take revenge in this way.
