There was no notable disclosure of the importation of an armoured vehicle by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) or the Guyana Defence Force into the country. However, yesterday there was one such vehicle parked on top of several containers at the Guyana National Shipping Corporation Limited (GNSC) on Lombard Street.
The last armoured vehicle was delivered to Division ‘B’ of the Guyana Police Force in October 2010.
This type of vehicle is nothing new to Guyana and had been used mainly by ranks during operations in Buxton and Agricola. It is not the everyday type of vehicle used for patrols.
When contacted Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee, said, “Publish what you see, then we will take it from there.”
When the GDF and GPF were also contacted, it was disclosed that they were not in possession of any information pertaining to an armoured vehicle.
